Here is one recent case courtesy of the Shakopee Valley News – quote – A 42-year-old Prior Lake man was sentenced in federal court Monday his role in an elaborate three-step mortgage fraud scam that bilked lenders of $2.5 million in less than a year.

U.S. District Court Judge Patrick J. Schiltz sentenced Brett A. Thielen to 27 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of mortgage fraud through the use of interstate wire and one count of engaging in a monetary transaction in criminally derived property.

The sentencing came one year after Thielen pleaded guilty to those felony charges relating to the fraudulent sales of 13 units of the Sexton Loft condominiums in Minneapolis.
